Hi. I downloaded the app titled WM Live, which basically is the beginnings to integrate XBox Live with Windows Mobile devices. The software is a fantastic beginning, and i saw one other app which seems to have the same basic idea but less info.
I did have a suggestion or two. I would like to see in the future release to be able to send invitations/messages to other Xbox live users (your friends list), also be able to log into your own account to search and queue up downloads to be ready for you when you turn on your xbox and log into Live from the marketplace. Not sure of the latter suggestion will work, but its just out of mere frustration that Microsoft hasn't done anything to tie up the devices/services together.
Of course i am sure this will all be possible for future updates and such. This a great beginning and i am happy to see that finally developers are taking it into their own hands to figure out how to integrate the fine services Microsoft offers. I still can't believe that Microsoft has not even released native apps or natively integrated XBox live or Zune features yet. I am sure with WM 7 being released in 2010 we will see all of that and then some. I dont own a 360 nor do i have an Xbox live account, but i installed this app so i can just say i have the capabilities.
Hey thanks for the kind words and the GREAT suggestions. I'll put as many as I can in my list, even if right now logging in with your account is out of question unfortunately :(
I'm sure that Microsoft will bring the true Live Anywhere in these awesome devices one day, I got big hopes in WM7 too ;)
Uomo di classe 2008.
you're welcome. I showed some of my friends today the software (by the way they all have blackberry phones) and they were impressed that my phone has some sort of integration with Live. They thought it was cool to see my friend's avatar posing on my screen and show what games they played, although a bit creeped out since put in his gamertag to show an example of what this app can do. Again, many thanks, and it is relatively fast to update and pull up the list of games they played, even on my device's GPRS connection (my device is old and that's the fastest cell data network it will use). Since my device is older (Windows Mobile 5.0 Professional), it is impressive to see that developers in the community have not forgotten older devices to add support for cool features such as this added integration of Xbox Live.
With the suggestions, i would say the easier thing to do is possibly adding the ability to send messages. If i knew how to code or program or do anything like that i would say to allow me to help develop the app.
If Microsoft brings a true integration of Xbox Live to Windows Mobile, i doubt it would either as creative, or the fact they would not add support to older devices. Also it seems as though i appreciate the software more coming from a developer/enthusiast rather than coming from MS themselves. Again, many thanks and i am definitely looking forward to the next updates.
Wow. Again, thanks a lot! This is just the kind of feedback that motivates me to keep on with development, as I don't really get nothing else out of my projects, including WM Live. But that's what I look for the most, and I appreciate your words so much.
Also, thanks for noticing: compatibility with older devices is top priority for me, as well as a fast and possibly bug-free sync. Glad that it's working fine for you!
I have a couple more neat features to add before v1.0 release, unfortunately everything that involves actually loggin in to your account - as I said - is out of question right now, because of MS's policies with Live ID. So no messages, automatically pulling your friends list and such.. But I do hope to hear some news from MS on the matter :)
I did want to ask as to whether if you can post a road map so we can see what your plans are for your app, what you are working on for the next release, and any bugs present, and fixed? I would like to see the progression if it is at all possible. Also i was wondering where on this website is the page for this app so i can download the next release when it comes out? Thanks!
http://m.zaamit.com/wmlive/ Here you will always find the latest release, info and screenshots :)
As for a roadmap / change history, I definitely plan to have that info publicly available: in my eyes v1.0 will be the first "official" release, and that's when I'll start keeping track for those interested. As far as I know, every bug reported has been fixed so far: I wanted to start in beta to obviously collect that kind of info, as well as ideas for new features that should definitely be included in the app.
We're up to v0.9.5 right now: every feature I wanted to put in it's there, so from here to v1.0 I'll just expand the "Live Presence" panel (with gamers online status), fix any bug that may arise and possibly make it prettier.
Thanks again tketz, as long as there's feedback and interest, development will go on :)
Hello,
Great program !
Do you think someday this software will be open source ?
Best regards.
Thanks so much sorcer!
But sorry I doubt it will ever be open source, due to a NDA agreement I have with Microsoft to grab XBL info :(
Ok !
I'm author of XBLFriends !
So i had a idea to exchange some infos to upgrade your software and why not mine too.
But if you have any NDA agreement...
I was wondering if this project is officially dead. I am just curious considering that Windows Mobile 7 announcement with its integration of Xbox Live.
Thanks! I do like this app greatly. run faster and better in my opinion than the other app i tried.
